5 kids with a giving spirit

It’s the season of giving, and five Maryland kids are definitely doing their fair share.

A Crofton teen helps homeless kids with their homework. An Easton tween cooks for the needy. An Arnold youth sent school supplies to students in India, and twin boys from Laurel have spent countless hours caring for abused horses.

If you are looking for an uplifting story this holiday season, start here and learn what these five kids have gained while giving to others.

Halloween candy buy back locations in Maryland

Halloween Candy BuybackWondering what in the world to do with the loads of Halloween candy your kids have hauled in? Here is a list of some of the dentists and orthodontists in the Annapolis area who will buy the candy back from your kids.

Most donate the candy to the troops (often with toothbrushes included!). Check with the offices to find out the dates and times they will be buying back.

New tablets and language software free through Anne Arundel libraries

LaunchpadsSummer starting to drag? Here is some new fun with a bit of learning to the rescue. Kids can now check out special tablets with educational apps from all Anne Arundel County Public Libraries. The libraries are also now offering Rosetta Stone Library Solution so both parents and kids can start to learn a new language.

Annapolis Library closed through March

annapolis library leak WAnnapolis Regional Library will be closed through March due to damage from January's blizzard.

After inspections from numerous architectural and safety experts, Anne Arundel County Public Library officials announced that repairs may soon begin on the roof followed by interior repairs. This process is expected to last through the month of March with possible reopening set for early April.
