There are plenty of events for families and adults scheduled for Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary’s 30th Anniversary.
The sanctuary, located in Lothian, has planned 30 events to celebrate the 30 years through the end of the year.
Jug Bay is operated by Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks and consists of 1,700 acres of open water, tidal freshwater marshes, forested wetlands and fields and more along the Patuxent River.
Come help celebrate the anniversary by attending one of the events or just visiting the sanctuary. For kids, there is a Nature Play Space outside of the Visitor’s Center, which has a sunken canoe, musical instruments made from natural materials and a cave made entirely from sticks. The Visitor’s Center has hands-on games and activities, and box turtles and stream fish living on site. There are also miles of trails and boardwalks for adults and families to enjoy.
Jug Bay is located at 1361 Wrighton Road. Cost is enter is $3 per vehicle. The sanctuary is open to the public 9am-5pm, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. (Closed Sundays December to February)
