Nicole by OPI, the little sister brand of salon powerhouse OPI, branched out in lots of different ways this summer and fall, experimenting with textures and finishes. My favorite might have been the mini four-shade collection, Tink, inspired by Peter Pan’s sidekick Tinker Bell. I love the weird, soupy green Sweet on Pete, as well as the orangey-red Half-Charming, Half-Alarming and lighter orange Fairy Fairy Quite Contrary. Tink’s in the Pink is a little more expected, but they’re all very nice crèmes.

Who Red My Journal? is a really nice metallic red; You’re My Treasure and Spark the Conversation are great glitter topcoats, very chunky and attention-grabbing; and Late Blu-mer and Aren’t Families Grape? are nicely unexpected for the holidays.

Also unexpected for Nicole by OPI is the Gumdrops collection, which is the same textured glitter as the Zoya PixieDust collection. But these colors are darker, and more fall-appropriate: cobalt Blue-berry Sweet on You; almost-black A-nise Treat; mauve Cinna-man of My Dreams; berry My Cherry Amour; light pink Candy is Dandy; and light purple I Lilac Gumdrops. A-nise Treat and Cinna-man of My Dreams are especially nice—I haven’t seen any glittery finishes in these shades yet.

AVAILABILITY: Nicole by OPI shades are about $7 each at stores like Target, Ulta, and other drugstores.
