Potted lip balms are not for everyone. They can be sticky and messy, and dipping your finger into the container every time you want some product can’t be the most hygienic thing in the world. And who carries a lip brush around? There is no regular person, not involved in makeup professionally, who does that.
So I like to keep potted lip balms for applying at home only, because that allows me to wash my hands right after and not end up smearing product everywhere. I’ve recently become really enamored of the Josie Maran Argan Lip Treatment Trio, which includes three shades: shimmery opal pink Harmony; darker, mauve pink Playful; and plum berry Paradise. These are free of excess chemicals and infused with anti-aging argan oil, and I like to pop them in the refrigerator every so often to firm up the product and keep it from melting.
For a more pigmented look, I turn to BITE Beauty’s Lip Rouge, available in the warm red shade Apple (the brand’s Lip Shine and Vitamin Gel, which I previously reviewed for About Face, are great, too). Semi-sheer at first but more buildable, I love the rich red shade, and it gives me the perfect Snow White pout with nice moisturizing properties, too. The product is now discontinued, but I’m going to search eBay and Amazon every day until I can grab more shades before they’re totally gone.
