It’s almost February, which means spring nail polish collections are coming at a fast and furious pace. From indie to drugstore to luxury brands, we aim to cover them all—and in this first part of our series, we’ll take a look at Nicole by OPI’s collaboration with Selena Gomez and Zoya’s Lovely collection.

We go through this practically every season, don’t we? Summer brings neons and brights. Vampier colors debut for fall. And holiday collections are always metallic or sparkly. When it comes to nail polish, we’re pretty aware of how months of the year dictate various trends—it’s a standard brights vs. darks breakdown.
But spring is always a bit of an outlier. It’s when companies set the tone for the rest of the year—introducing new formulas, setting new goals, or announcing collaborations. New polishes and finishes start appearing on drugstore shelves and online retailers. And, as always, the possibilities can be overwhelming.
So today, we’re starting what we always do at About Face: try to introduce you to as many promising new collections as possible. We’ll go light this week with two launches, one large one from Nicole by OPI and singer/actress Selena Gomez and the other a smattering of pastels and shimmers from Zoya. In future posts in this series, we’ll look at the Mariah Carey OPI collection, the Nicole by OPI “Modern Family” collection, Butter London’s spring collection, and Priti NYC’s spring collection, among others.
