OPI Euro Centrale collection

As always, OPI unleashes a bunch of polishes on us with the 12-piece Euro Centrale collection, which pays homage to the continent. OPI has always been known for their kitschy polish names, but this collection seems especially egregious; I know typing I Saw…U Saw…We Saw…Warsaw more than once is already getting on my nerves.

But, of course, you can forgive that cutesiness because OPI’s polishes are always so, so good. In the first picture, we have Polka.com, a clear base with small circular blue, fuchsia, and purple glitter and medium hexagon-shaped blue and purple glitter; OPI…Eurso Euro, a pigmented indigo blue crème; Can’t Find My Czechbook, a slightly muted aqua blue crème; You’re Such a Budapest, a light lilac purple with very slight silver shimmer; My Paprika is Hotter Than Yours!, a hot orange-red with very slight silver shimmer; and Suzi’s Hungary Again!, a medium orange-ish pink with very slight silver shimmer.

OPIEuroCentrale2 ChesapeakeFamilyAboutFaceIn the second picture, we have A Woman’s Prague-Ative, an intensely pigmented copper shimmer; Hands Off My Kielbasa!, a salmon pink shimmer that almost has a frost finish; I Saw…U Saw…We Saw…Warsaw, a dark navy blue crème; My Vampire is Buff, a very light yellow crème; Oy-Another Polish Joke!, an intensely pigmented yellow shimmer; and Vant to Bite My Neck?, a dark eggplant purple crème.

You may have dupes for shades like OPI…Eurso Euro, Can’t Find My Czechbook, I Saw…U Saw…We Saw…Warsaw, or Vant to Bite My Neck? in your stash, since they’re pretty straightforward crèmes. But the shimmers in this collection, like A Woman’s Prague-Ative and Oy-Another Polish Joke!, absolutely should not be skimmed. They’re the perfect pedicure pick.

OPI Mariah Carey collection

Second picture, left to right: Anti-Bleak, Sprung, A Butterfly Moment, Pink Yet Lavender

And lastly, let’s look at OPI’s Mariah Carey collection, inspired by the singer-songwriter whose mega-stardom basically defined my childhood and who has become more relevant recently because of her judge status on “American Idol.” I refuse to watch that show, but any opportunity for more nail polish, I’ll take.

OPI did an eight-piece collection with the singer, and the offerings include four Liquid Sand shades, a mix of gritty glitter that dries to a matte, textured finish. It’s certainly not a look everyone will love—it’s textured, it’s not shiny, it can look a little grungy—but I appreciate the different approach OPI is taking to glitter with this new line. Plus, I’m attracted to glitter like a moth to a flame.

The four Liquid Sand shades are in the first picture: Can’t Let Go, a bright purple with small silver circle glitter and medium silver hexagon glitter; Get Your Number, a medium blue with small circle light blue and silver glitter; Stay the Night, a black with small fuchsia pink glitter; and The Impossible, a bright hot pink with small silver circle glitter, medium pink hexagon glitter, and pink star glitter.

OPIMariahCarey2 ChesapeakeFamilyAboutFaceThe other four shades in the collection are in the second picture: Anti-Bleak, a dark raspberry purple crème; Sprung, a pink and bronze metallic shimmer; A Butterfly Moment, a nude pink with gold shimmer; and Pink Yet Lavender, a clear base with small silver and holographic circle glitter and medium light pink and lavender hexagon glitter.

If the Liquid Sand finish intrigues you, I would wholeheartedly suggest the four in this collection; they’re bright and intriguing, and I particularly love the black and pink combination of Stay the Night. Of the other four shades, I think Sprung is the most unique, while A Butterfly Moment is the most work-appropriate; I think Anti-Bleak and Pink Yet Lavender, while pretty, seem a bit familiar.
