Butter London fall shades and Nordstrom exclusives

I’m eternally thankful for Butter London making the journey to the United States, because this British brand is wonderful not only for its sly polish names but its consistent mashing of different trends and finishes.
Take Butter London’s autumn collection as an example: it’s a solid variety of different glitter finishes, and no two look alike. Dodgy Barnett is a smooth, effective silver and holographic glitter; Gobsmacked, a mix of dark grey and silver glitter in a sheer grey base (a little thick, but just leave a few extra minutes of drying time); Lovely Jubbly, an insane explosion of purple, pink, blue, and fuchsia glitter in a sheer magenta base; Shag, a dark reddish brown with red shimmer; and Trustafarian, a mix of gold and light green holographic glitter.
And Butter London is always revealing new shades by partnering up for exclusive shades with specific stores, as they did this fall with Nordstrom.
Those three shades are Billy No Mates, a pale grey crème that leans slightly light blue; Stag Do, a deep teal blue with emerald shimmer; and Two Fingered Salute, a light pistachio, almost mint green crème with copper and orange shimmer.
They’re all pretty, but I must admit that I keep reaching for Two Fingered Salute—something about it seems very vintage and feminine to me, even though the color combination is fairly unexpected.

And to finish things up, we have a little bit of a grab bag.
First is Modern Love from Deborah Lippmann, a beautifully smooth pink-tinged beige crème that leans a little mauve; it’s an extremely feminine, versatile shade.
For something more daring, reach for Glitter Gal, known for its intensely holographic shades (like Teal Green, a mix of various shades of blue and green holographic glitter) and new neon shades (like the highlighter bright “Like Totally” Yellow).
And lastly, for work-appropriate but dependable shades, think of Essie, which released two collections this fall, Yogaga and Stylenomics. Of the six-piece Yogaga collection, think about the smooth cornflower blue crème Boxer Shorts or the greyish lilac Pilates Hottie; of the six-piece Stylenomics collection, consider vampy burgundy red crème Recessionista and blackish emerald green crème Stylenomics. The former two are more appropriate for daytime, while the latter two would be great for holiday parties—just add a glitter topcoat and you’re set.
