About Face: Prepping for winter with skin hydration

Refiners ChesapeakeFamilyAboutFaceLast week, I amassed a wide variety of face washes and treatments to help combat my recent upswing in acne. But I overlooked another key aspect of skincare: moisturizing. This week, a consideration of the lotions and hydrators that could help return my skin to normal.

Oh, last week! I was so overwhelmed by the awfulness of my skin that I took you all through my new cleansing regimen, which is basically try every cleanser under the sun and hope something works. It’s very scientific.

How are things going with that so far? Alright. I’ve started with Origins Mega Mushroom Skin Relief Face Cleanser, 100 Percent Pure Brightening Scrub + Mask, and Bioré Deep Cleansing Pore Strips, and things are somewhat looking up. But one thing some of my family and friends pointed out to me after reading my column last week was, what about hydration? Washing your face too often can sap it of natural oils and moisture, and as much as I think those are causing my acne, I don’t want my face to end up too dry and disgusting, either. I don’t need zombie skin.

It’s a delicate balance, this whole taking-care-of-your-face thing. So I’m expanding my regimen to include moisturizing, as well, and adding these products to the mix. Read on!
