With new ScandalEyes mascara, a revamped Stay Glossy lip gloss formula, and the launch of Kate Moss’s lipstick collection, Rimmel is pumping out promising, affordable products at a fast clip.

Last week, I talked about how pleasant it is to see cosmetics companies doing more of what is tried and true to their brand’s aesthetic—such as BareMinerals and Buxom launching new gloss formulas, Clinique adding to their Chubby Stick line, and Make Up For Ever expanding their Aqua Cream collection—but it’s always intriguing when a brand rolls out a bunch of new products all at once. How hard must their creative team be working to bring different concepts or offerings to the brand’s customers? How long have the products been in development?
Those kind of behind-the-scenes questions fascinate me; for a long time, I really wanted to be in charge of naming nail polishes. Did you know some brands bounce around hundreds of names before deciding on a specific one? Crazy.
But back to brands doing good by their customers by upping the ante: Case in point is Rimmel. The British brand has been slowly expanding their U.S. offerings in recent years, making actress Zooey Deschanel a face of the company and establishing their affordable products in stores like CVS Pharmacy, Ulta, and Walgreens. And this summer, they launched three different new items: Volume Flash ScandalEyes Mascara, Stay Glossy Long Lasting Lipgloss, and Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick, a collection designed by brand spokeswoman Kate Moss.
Mascara, lip gloss, lipstick—they may not initially sound that exciting, but it’s nice to see Rimmel offering us plenty of new options and expanding their presence stateside. For my thoughts on ScandalEyes, Stay Glossy, and Lasting Finish by Kate, read on!
