Polishes from Sally Hansen and Hard Candy

I will say upfront that I unabashedly love Sally Hansen nail products; there are always so many new things to try, and I love going to the drugstore for something innocuous—laundry detergent, mouthwash, whatever—and spending 10 or 15 minutes just walking up and down the nail polish aisle, seeing what new stuff Sally Hansen has launched recently. And thankfully, a lot of it has been quite good, including their new Complete Salon Manicure shades and Sally Hansen Lustre Shine collection.
The Complete Salon Manicure line is one of Sally Hansen’s core formulas, and these new shades are mostly work-appropriate, if that’s a priority for you: Arm Candy is a sheer light bubblegum pink, Debu-Tint is a very light silver glitter, and Sheer Ecstasy is a sheer, milky pink. More bold, and better for summer pedicures, are the orange glitter Copper Penny, the metallic shades Hi Ho Silver and Wedding Glitters, and the bright Snow Globe, with a variety of different glitter colors. And at about $8 each, these bottles aren’t so expensive, either.
I personally have a deep love for Sally Hansen’s Lustre Shine collection, which was launched late last year and includes a variety of duochrome shades—colors that look one way in a certain light and glow or dazzle in another light. 001 Moonstone, an opalescent pinkish white, would be most work-appropriate, but beautifully in-your-face are 003 Firefly, 005 Plume, or 008 Copperhead, three reddish bronze shades that flash different colors in the light, and 004 Azure or 007 Scarab, deep, jewel-like blues and greens.
And I’ve recently grown fonder of Hard Candy, which I featured in a post a few weeks ago; the now-Walmart-exclusive brand now has a huge range of products. I haven’t had the chance to try all of their nail polishes yet, but I’ve had good success with the Sprinkles collection. The shade 664 Gummy Green is a mint green—almost a light, light blue, really—with small circles of white, black, and grey glitter, and I can’t help but think of mint chocolate chip ice cream when I look at my nails. It’s a cute, fun, and affordable look.
