I should (like, really should) start working out more this year, and maybe I will! Maybe. But either way, whether I’m washing off gym sweat or not, I’m interested to try these three beauty items: LUSH Egg Hunt soap, Softsoap Citrus Splash and Berry Fusion body wash, and Amal Oils Moroccan Rhassoul Clay.
For their Easter-themed collection this spring, LUSH released the limited edition Egg Hunt soap, which the company describes as the epitome of “spring time.” The soap smells like “raspberry, orange, lemon and violet leaf,” but it smells most strongly like freshly cut green grass.
It’s also packed with citrus essential oils; lathers up really easily; and leaves the delightful scent lingering behind for a while after your shower is over.
LUSH products are available online and in LUSH stores, whereas you can find Softsoap products in practically every drugstore. The brand launched their new fragrance, Citrus Splash and Berry Fusion, last year, and the body wash is a thin gel packed with “suspended moisture beads.”
Those beads explode as you wash and leave your skin feeling soft and smooth, and the scent is fruity—a mix of orange, lemon, raspberries, and strawberries—and invigorating. Perfect for a morning shower to get the day started right.
Last up is Amal Oils Moroccan Rhassoul Clay, which I purchased from online retailer HealthyChic as an opportunity to test their site. Similar to other flash sale websites like Gilt or Hautelook, HealthyChic is focused on beauty and health products, such as yoga apparel and equipment. The site “aims to be consumer’s one-stop e-commerce marketplace for all of their yoga lifestyle needs-apparel and accessories, products, health and nutrition, and beauty and wellness,” and for every purchase, the website donates a meal to a hungry child somewhere in the world.
I like the layout of HealthyChic (it was easy to navigate and find what products I was interested in), and I’m thinking of doing a giveaway with the website. Keep your eyes out for it!
Anyway, back to Amal Oils Moroccan Rhassoul Clay, which brings the Turkish bath experience to your home. Rhassoul is natural mineral clay that has been mined in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains since the eighth century, and women have been using it on their skin and in their hair for hundreds of years.
The clay naturally contains high levels of silica, magnesium, iron, calcium, potassium and sodium, and Amal Oils’ product promises that it “eliminates oils and toxins from skin and hair, improves skin elasticity, minimizes pores, improves skin clarity, extracts blackheads and gives body and shine to hair.”
I distinctly remember my mother and grandmother using clay-based products when I was younger, so I’m fairly excited about trying Moroccan Rhassoul Clay. You mix the toxin-free product with a little bit of water to create a smooth paste and then apply it wherever you want—including your hair. Yup, that’s my plan for next week.
