Terrapin Adventure Center in Savage, Maryland has a number of fun, unique programs available through the end of summer and beginning of fall for area residents to enjoy. Check out these one-of-a-kind adventures.
Bike and Wine Tour
August 13th, 14th; September 10th – 3:00pm
Enjoy a 12 mile easy ride along the Little Patuxent River riding our comfortable mountain bikes over paved paths and hard packed dirt. Along with way we often see wildlife and learn about the history of the area. You arrive at beautiful Lake Elkhorn and travel around this lake for 2 miles enjoying the sites and sounds of this park. Then enjoy some wine, cheese, bread along the lake side before heading back to the base camp at Savage Mill. Bikes, helmet, instructions, wine, cheese and bread are provided. Must be at least 5 ft. tall and 21 years old. $59.95 plus tax.
Beer and Fear
August 14th, 28th; September 11th, 25th – 3:00pm
Join Terrapin Adventures and the Rams Head Tavern for a special Beer and Fear Tour. Spend two hours taking the Terrapin Challenge. Scale the 43 ft. tower, traverse all 18 crossings on their High Ropes Challenge Course, glide through the forest on the 330 ft. zip line and experience 2Gs of force on the Giant Swing. Then reward yourself with a mouth watering menu paired with hearty samples of five different Rams Head Tavern Beers or wine. The food is great, the company better and the beer is superb. Bring your friends or meet new ones at this special event. $65 plus tax.
Paddle and Crab Feast
September 10th
Join TA as they explore the many tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay. You will see osprey, turtles, great blue herons and more. Then join staff for crabs and seafood at a local crab house. Tour is $69.95 per person excluding food and includes kayak, paddle, life vest, and water. 3 hr tour, for ages 10+. Under 18 must be accompanied by adult.
Pedal and Pick Your Own
September 10th; October 8th
Using comfortable mountain bikes, the 13.3 miles cruise by as you enjoy the sites and sounds of Western Howard County farm land. Begin and end at Larriland Farms, famous for pick your own fruits and vegetables. The guided bike tour should last about 2 hours and then you pick Larriland’s wonderful berries, apples, and vegetables on their nearly 80 acres.
Cost for Tour is $49.95 (vegetables and fruit are yours to purchase). Terrapin Adventures provides the bikes, helmets and water. Must be at least 12 years old and 5 ft. tall. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. As an option, you can bring your own bike for the tour for only $25. Minimum tour size of 6 people and maximum of 12.
