Meet nationally renowned authors and have some fun at the Annapolis Book Festival, April 8 at The Key School.

Annapolis book festival W5Authors will discuss their books and the craft of writing. The festival also features children’s activities, live music, refreshments, and new and used book sales. Kids can create pixie dust, make a lava lamp, design their own superhero cape, fly a drone and much more.

Kids activities will include

Fly Away to Neverland
Make Neverland crafts: pixie dust necklaces, fairy wings, Lost Boy caps, pirate hats and join in a marshmallow skirmish.

She Blinded Me With Science
Join Girls Who Code for some poetry in motion. Try out video games, learn to fly a drone and make your own lava lamp.

Third Eye Comics Pop-Up Shop will feature materials for all ages separated appropriately. A team of Third Eye staff will be on hand to help fans find their next favorite book.

The Art of Cute – Character Design Workshop
10:30 a.m. Workshop for children grades 1-8 featuring Dandy, the illustrator of Pupcakes & Cupcats, for a hands-on cute character design workshop! Attendees will get a brief introduction to the basics of creating adorable and engaging characters.

Hero Ted: Saving the World Just Before Bedtime
1 p.m. Reading and book signing by author Nick Davis. For ages pre-school and up.
“Hero Ted,” is an early reader comic book written so you can read the story to your child like a regular storybook, or your child can follow the action by looking at the illustrations. Made for a child in mind with simple heroics, horrible monsters and always a happy ending with an important lesson about caring, sharing and doing the right thing along the way.

Pokémon Go & Draw
2 p.m. Workshop for children grades 1-8.
Join Art Way Alliance artists as they show you how to draw some of your favorite Pokémon characters. From the original 151 to the new Sun & Moon starters, these artists know them all. Participants may even create their own creatures! Bring your Pokédex and creativity.

Studio Creator Space
All day. For teens.
Hang with your friends and let your creative vibes flow. Check out the adult coloring books, use the space to create and showcase your original art or pen a poem, or bring your instruments and write a new song.

Design Your Own Super Hero Cape
All day. For all ages.
Stop by and make your own super hero cape and show the world your alter ego.

Also visit with some pups brought by K-9 Dogs, be enthralled by magician Jack Julius and check out Ravens Cheer Clinic and a visit by Poe, the Ravens’ mascot, who will be bringing a friend.
