Anne Arundel and PG schools propose budgets for FY 2015

SupMamiePerkinsNow2WThe heads of Anne Arundel and Prince George’s county schools have proposed operating budgets for Fiscal Year 2015.

Interim Schools Superintendent Mamie J. Perkins today recommended a $1.04 billion Fiscal Year 2015 operating budget that would fund expansion of programs of choice at four schools, launch a second STEM middle school magnet program, and open the county’s first contract school in west county.

Last week, Kevin M. Maxwell, Chief Executive Officer for Prince George’s County Public Schools, presented his recommendations for the school district’s Fiscal Year 2015 Proposed Annual Operating Budget to the Board of Education. The $1.753 billion spending proposal represents a 3.89 percent increase over this year’s $1.687 billion dollar budget, and includes funding to support and hire employees to address student needs, expand successful academic programs and enhance supports for students and families.
