Spring has arrived and with it, the Anne Arundel County Farmers’ Market is celebrating the grand opening of their Saturday market on March 30.
The Anne Arundel County Farmers’ Market (AACFM) has served the community since 1981, offering a family-friendly atmosphere for people to shop for everything from fresh vegetables and baked goods to wine and hard cider. There are over 100 venders who sell year round at the market, which is located at 275 Harry Truman Parkway in Annapolis.
A trip to the farmers’ market is one of the best ways for your family to connect with where your food comes from. Meeting and talking to farmers and food artisans is a great opportunity for kids to learn more about how and where food is produced. It is also affords you the opportunity to pick up some new recipes as the farmers and artisans at the market are often passionate cooks with plenty of free advice about how to cook the foods they are selling.
This weekend the market is expecting to offer:
- Fresh Vegetables: arugula, beets (baby and full-grown), dandelion greens, kale, lettuce, mushrooms, onions, salad greens, radishes, swiss chard, turnips
- Meats: beef, chicken, lamb, and pork
- Artisan cheese, pasture-raised eggs, fresh-cut culinary herbs, milk, and yogurt
- Hot breakfast items for Saturday & Sunday: bacon, scrapple or sausage egg and cheese sandwiches
