Anne Arundel County offering Diversity Matters workshop for parents

AAPSLogoParents in Anne Arundel County can learn how cultural values and beliefs influence behavior at a free workshop offered by the Anne Arundel County Public Schools’ Office of School and Family Partnerships.

Called “Diversity Matters,” the free workshop is geared toward enabling parents to become more aware of the strengths that all families bring as we work together to ensure the academic success of all children. It will run from 9:30am to 2:30pm on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Carver Staff Development Center, located at 2671 Carver Road in Gambrills.

“The issue of understanding learners from diverse cultures is a critical one as we seek to elevate all students and eliminate all gaps in our school system,” said Teresa Tudor, AACPS’ Senior Manager for School and Family Partnerships. “Parents are a key part of that equation, and this workshop will provide strategies and resources that parents can use to help their children.”

Light morning refreshments will be provided. To register for the workshop, go to Anne Arundel County Public Schools website or call 410-222-5309.
