Anne Arundel County Public Schools’ will end for the year on Friday, June 14, 2013 for most schools thanks to a two-day waiver granted by the state from the 180-day school calendar requirement.
This end date, however, is dependent on no more closures for inclement weather this school year.
The waiver request came as a result of two days in October in which the school system canceled classes because of the impact of Hurricane Sandy. AACPS made the waiver request to the State Board of Education because a State of Emergency had been imposed on each of those days by Gov. Martin O’Malley.
AACPS builds four days into the Board-adopted school calendar for
Inclement weather, but has used just one more than the two days waived
by the State Board.
