“Ant-Man and the Wasp” has flown into theaters and the long awaited sequel is not to be missed! It is a film that families and superhero fans will enjoy, and it’s as much fun as the first film, filled with plenty of action, humor and both new and familiar characters. It is, in my opinion, the best film of the summer because I couldn’t find any flaws in it. I enjoyed the film for its development in story and character, and the gags kept me glued to it, keeping a smile on my face.
Taking place after Ant-Man, the film revolves around our main protagonist, Scott Lang, as he struggles to be both a hero and a father. The world is in need of saving, but in order to be the father his daughter needs, he has to obey the law, and breaking the law is sometimes necessary in order to be a hero. He faces a new mission that will uncover the past of Dr. Hank Pym, with the help of Hope van Dyne, who also wears a suit with shrinking powers to become the Wasp. Along the way, the duo must work together to defeat a new villain who is also interested in Pym’s past, but for a different and life threatening reason.
Throughout the film there are lots of “Easter eggs” and nods to the larger Marvel Universe. For fans of eighties music, re-watch the trailer for some music by Adam & the Ants. Plus it wouldn’t be a Marvel film without a Stan Lee cameo. If you have watched the recent news focused on the concerns about Stan Lee’s health and care, it was comforting to see he is still at the healm “watching” and giving a wink to the fans. Lastly, be sure watch the film’s credits because there are two post credit scenes, and one of them is related to another major Marvel film.
