Bring the family to celebrate all things art Sept. 19-20 at Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center in Solomons.
The event features more than 165 artist booths, 30 performers on two stages, activities for kids, food, wine, drinks and plenty more. Street performers can be found throughout the festival, including stilt walkers, mimes, living statues, balloon artists, bubble artists and strolling artists.
A Discovery Tent for kids will be located in the grassy meadow near the Main Stage and will feature artsy activities for all ages. This year the activities are inspired by games — from travel games to ball games to brain teasers. The Studio School and Clay Studio will be open for kids to check out and try their hand at a variety of art media.
Kids can also run around and have fun in the Zany Zone with giant beach balls, hula hoops and other toys. A Patio Play Area features blow-up bowling pins, sidewalk chalk, Artsy Easels and a spot to dig in one of the Treasure Troughs. Cardboard City allows kids to climb on, rearrange and decorate cardboard buildings, and the magical Fairy Lolly is open for natural play.
More than 25 bands will perform jazz, rock, bluegrass, country, folk, classical, gospel and blues, and there will be a number of dance performances as well. Artists booths will include jewelry, ceramics, painting, wood, glass, sculpture and more.
Admission is $6, but children ages 11 and under are free. The festival runs 10 a.m.-5 p.m. both days. For details visit Annmarie’s website.
