Babysitter training in the Baltimore/Annapolis area

Listed below are classes scheduled in the Annapolis area to train teens and preteens for babysitting.

The Safe Sitter® Classes

Baltimore Washington Medical Center Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. A program for pre-teen babysitters ages 11-13. Participants will gain confidence with babysitting skills and abilities in caring for young children in emergency and non-emergency situations. $50.

Chester River Hospital Center March 2, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. A one-day class for young people, ages 11 to 13 years of age focusing on first aid, rescue skills and behavior management techniques necessary for handling medical or household emergencies, which may occur while caring for a young child. The instructors are hospital nurses with pediatric experience. $40 including an instructional manual and book bag. Class size is limited and pre-registration is required. Classes are held in the Education Center at Chester River Hospital Center. American Red Cross Babysitter Training

The following courses are sponsored by the American Red Cross and help teens and preteens: develop leadership skills; learn how to develop a babysitting business; keep the themselves and others safe and help children behave; and learn about basic child care and basic first aid. The recommended age for this course is 11-15 years old. Cost is $85
