Pennsylvania has Punxsutawney Phil, and now Maryland has its own weather-predicting creature. Today, Baltimore Bill, the weather-predicting crab made his debut appearance at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, and he says Marylanders can expect cold days ahead.
Official Preakness/Triple Crown stakes caller Larry Collmus provided a play-by-play as Baltimore Bill scuttled down a specially-designed crab plank this morning toward the harbor.
When Bill came to the fork in his route, he headed to the right toward the warm Bay rather than to the left toward the harbor, meaning he predicts an early winter for Maryland. We will have to wait and see if Bill is as skilled as Phil at predicting weather patterns.
