Make it a literary weekend and take the kids to the 20th annual Baltimore Book Festival this weekend Sept. 25-27, 2015, from 11a.m. to 7p.m. at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.
Baltimore’s celebration of the literary arts features 275 nationally renowned, celebrity and regional authors, children’s activities, book signings, readings, panel discussions, workshops, cooking demonstrations, book arts, exhibitors and live music.
For 2015, author highlights include 2015 Newbery Medal Winner Kwame Alexander, The Crossover; Daniel James Brown, The Boys in The Boat; Ryan Ferguson, Stronger, Faster Smarter; Jessica Knoll, Luckiest Girl Alive; Laura Lippman, Hush Hush; Senator John McCain, 13 Soldiers; Wes Moore, The Work and many more.
This year, the CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Children’s Corridor hosts the children’s programming at West Shore Park and the Enoch Pratt Free Library Children’s Stage. Also included in this area are the Red Canoe Bookstore Café and the Crafts Corridor. Also new this year is the Inner Harbor Stage presented by Towson University, which hosts a diverse array of award-winning authors, panel discussions and voices from regional literary publications.
The Geppi’s Entertainment Museum Comic Pavilion curated by Third Eye Comics and Artway Alliance, offers a weekend full of workshops and panels while Baltimore Comic-Con coincides with the festival at the Baltimore Convention Center.
Old Bay presents Baltimore Bill, the weather predicting crab who joins the Baltimore Book Festival for another fall weather prediction. Also presented by Old Bay are cooking demonstrations from John Shields, Chesapeake Bay Cooking and Mary Lou Baker & Holly Smith, Seafood Lovers’ Guide to the Chesapeake.
