When you are out and about starting your holiday shopping, perhaps put an extra present or two on the list to help a child in need.
Updated October, 2021
Angel Tree, an assistance program of the Salvation Army of Central Maryland, provides an opportunity for your family to be an angel to a local child, making the holidays just a little brighter.
Thanks to the generosity of individuals, families and businesses throughout Maryland, Angel Tree provides gifts of new clothing and toys to thousands of children, who may not enjoy the holidays otherwise. The organization collects a child’s name, age (up to 12 years old), gender, clothing size and any special needs then writes them on paper angels.
The angels are placed on Christmas trees at area malls and locations throughout Maryland, allowing shoppers to pick an angel and then purchase new age- and gender-appropriate toys, clothing, and/or special needs items as listed on the coded section of the tag. Donors then return the unwrapped gifts with the coded section of the tag attached to the item to the designated location at the mall.
If a mall is not on your holiday shopping to-do list, you can also participate online. You simply fill out an online form, choosing a child based on gender and age. Then print your angel tree tag at home. After purchasing the gift or gifts, bring your tagged and unwrapped gifts to the drop-off location you selected on the form. Bags and labels will be available when you get there. To ensure the gifts are delivered in time for the holidays, please be sure to return gifts by the final drop-off date indicated online.
