Breakfast at a cozy Maryland restaurant can be a real treat, especially when it is locally owned and includes some personality. Try some of these recommendations from the members of Things to Do in Maryland.

Best Breakfast Places

  • Breakfast Shoppe in Severna Park. Every time I come here, the food never ceases to amaze me. Everything is always so good, and so so SO affordable.
  • Cafe Sophie. Cute little mom-and-pop restaurant near the Montgomery County airport. You can watch planes while you have breakfast.
  • Eggcellence (Annapolis). Super fast service and good food!! The benedict’s are my favorite. One of the best brunch places in Annapolis in my opinion!!
  • We have a new creperie in La PlataThe Farmhouse Cafe and Creperie. The restaurant is an old farmhouse, and the decor is so neat. Open for breakfast and lunch only 8-2. The food is great!!
  • The French Twist in Sykesville. My friend brought a bit of her French home to her new home here. It’s a great spot for coffee, crepes, and conversation. Visit and then stroll along Main Street to check out all the fun independent shops
  • Grump’s Cafe (Annapolis & Gambrills). My kids call the one in Annapolis the Parrot Cafe because of all of the decorations. Delicious food with a quirky atmosphere.
  • Honey Bee Diner in Glen Burnie. Our food came out quickly and was hot & fresh! We got blueberry pancakes, a breakfast sandwich, and fries. Everything was delicious & plentiful!
  • Main & Market in Annapolis has breakfast on the weekends, and it is alllllllll delicious!!
  • Miss Shirley’s  They are really that good!!! My “boyfriend” was visiting Baltimore for some research visits from Australia and the Monday after his visits (he flew out Tuesday) my parents and I took him to Miss Shirley’s in Baltimore along with the Aquarium and it was THE BEST and my mom and I were like “why don’t we go here more”?
  • Olde Town Restaurant in Mt. Airy. Love the homemade pop tarts too!!
  • Paper Moon Diner in Baltimore. you don’t even need good food at Paper Moon, it’s just the experience! But, the good food is a plus!
  • Willy’s Kitchen, (Glen Burnie) don’t judge by the outside or location. They are farm-to-table, and the food is amazing!
