Oakleigh Forest
Oakleigh Forest, located nine miles north of Annapolis and is one of the best places to live in Maryland. With only 158 homes, a park, a playground, a pool, a kiddy pool, picnic pavilion, bathhouse, and a waterfront with a boat launch and slips, Oakleigh Forest residents enjoy many activities with their neighbors. Each year numerous community events are sponsored in the neighborhood.
The community association is run by volunteer residents and their goal is to make “Oakleigh Forest continue to be a safe, enjoyable place to live for people of all ages.” Membership is required to participate in all of the amenities and forbid the ownership of chickens, cows and ponies.
Oakleigh Forest was established in 1957 and the first house built in 1959. The association pool was built in 1961. The closest shopping and restaurants are on Route 2 only a couple of miles away. A car is necessary as there is no public transportation available. There are two public libraries within five miles of the community.
