No fan of the cell phone ban
I’m not a big fan of the new law banning the use of hand-held cell phones while driving, but I know why it’s necessary. I know that it’s dangerous. I don’t want my kids learning to drive and being distracted by their phones. The idea of it worries me to death, but I’ve been a pretty bad example.
The problem is, I spend a lot of time in the car. I’m a busy working mom on the go and the car offers the best place to get caught up with phone calls. Making appointments, arranging rides for kids, nailing down schedules, and catching up with friends — it’s all been happening in the car. My carefully balanced life might just fall apart if I can’t use my cell phone in the car.
Luckily there are options. I can get another Bluetooth that might actually sync with my phone. And one of these days I might be able to figure out how to talk to my phone so that it dials for me when I’m driving. I’d rather get a new car that has all the current technology wired in, but that’s unlikely to happen any time soon.
So in the meantime, I’m going to have to learn how to let it ring. Either that or get a ticket, or worse. Hopefully my life won’t fall apart before I can get to the Verizon store.
