Family friendly Oyster Roast & Sock Burning
For the kids, there will be face painting, a critter tank, an oyster tonguing station and the chance to role play as an oyster shucker. The activities and exhibits will highlight the area’s unique maritime heritage and the importance of the oyster to the health of the Chesapeake Bay. Also open for exploring will be the museum’s 850-gallon aquarium and work boat.
There will also be plenty of oysters — raw, steamed and roasted — along with BBQ, hotdogs, hamburgers, beer, wine and soft drinks for purchase. A People’s Choice Best Oyster Dish tasting contest will be available to 200 visitors for an extra fee and includes samples of the best oyster dishes from eight area restaurants.
The Oyster Roast ticket is $25 for adults, $5 for kids 13-18 and free for kids 12 and under. The People’s Choice package is $50. For details and tickets visit the Annapolis Maritime Museum website.
