Tiger moms across the country are smiling over a host of new research confirming that children from preschool to age 7 who are exposed to musical training develop better hearing, motor, and cognitive skills.

In two studies out from Northeastern University and the Montreal Neurological Institute, children exposed to musical training were found to have more “white matter” in the front of their brains where motor skills are performed. While the researchers said starting music early won’t necessarily make your child Mozart, it may give them some important tools to be more successful later in life.
