Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with Homemade Recipes or Local Takeout

It’s Cinco de Mayo and Taco Tuesday, and yet we’re stuck at home due to Corona.

But seriously, here’s how you can celebrate Cinco de Mayo at home this year.

Make Salsa!

I’ve been making this quick and easy salsa for years now and it never disappoints. The best part is, as long as you have most of the ingredients, it still works. For example, in the video I made here, I didn’t have any jalapeños or poblano chilis on hand, which I usually add. If you need to add some heat and don’t have any chiles, add a splash of hot sauce. I also had only a squeeze of lemon juice left, which worked just fine. If you’re not a cilantro fan, no problem, the salsa works just fine without it.

If you’d rather use fresh tomatoes (and I don’t blame you), check out this recipe.

If you’re a fan of fruitier salsas, here’s one that will freshen up your summer dishes.

Virtual Margaritas
This virtual margarita making class is just $15, and will let you in on great techniques to enjoy a great drink. If you’re in Baltimore, add on a Jerk chicken or Brisket taco kit to go along with the margaritas. May 5, 7–9 p.m. Hosted by Avenue Kitchen & Bar.

They might seem complicated, but a good margarita is just a few ingredients away. Here’s the basic from Bon Appetit. The good news is liquor stores will deliver right to your car these days if you need ingredients.

Order Some
Vida Taco Bar is offering takeout at its Severna Park location, which includes a limited menu and 16- 32- and 92-ounce containers of margaritas, sangria, and ‘purple drank.’ Vida’s Annapolis location also has a taco truck delivering said drinks to Annapolis neighborhoods. Check their Facebook page for delivery areas.

Taco Tuesday

If you didn’t plan ahead for your family’s favorite Taco Tuesday recipes, order in from local favorites. Here are two of ours! Look online for your favorite Mexican spot to see what takeout deals they’re offering and support them today!
