Attention Earthlings: It’s time once again for that annual celebration of all things green. Earth Day is nearly upon us and, while many people offer advice on being kind to Mother Earth, too many of these tips don’t quite coincide with frugal lifestyles. In an effort to dovetail these two purposes, we offer 22 budget-friendly ways to go green in honor of April 22.
St. Mary’s Earth Day Mural
But before we get to the list, Patricia Taylor’s third grade “green” art classes at St. Mary’s Elementary School in Annapolis put their recyclables toward creating murals. The mural to the left is made with recycled calendars, paper, plastic toys, findings, cassettes, etc. The children painted the mesh background letters and numbers, collected the objects at home, brought them to school, sorted them by color and collaged them together with twisty ties and wires.
