Hanukkah in Space
Dec. 6. How do you spin a dreidel in zero gravity? Can you light a menorah on the International Space Station? Come celebrate the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah—in outer space! In this live-stream family event, we’ll share how we celebrate our favorite holidays, experience several Hanukkah traditions, and discover how astronauts celebrate in space. This program is best suited for ages 5-7, though it will be plenty of fun for the whole family. Free. 3–4 p.m. Presented by the Jewish Museum of Maryland.
Hanukkah Stories Series
Dec. 10-17. Celebrate the Jewish holiday of Hanukah virtually and come together each night and listen to stories read by local families, enjoy interactive holiday crafts, and light the menorah candles. A special Hanukkah-related theme will inspire each night’s activities. Program is free and best suited for children age 10 and under. Dec. 10, 5pm; Dec. 11, 4pm; Dec. 12, 6pm; Dec. 13-17, 5pm. Brought to you by the Jewish Museum of Maryland, the Center for Jewish Education, PJ Library, the JCC, and other community partners.
Chanukah Joy at Westfield Mall 2020
Dec. 10. Feel the joy and spirit of the holiday with the entire Jewish community with Chanukah Kits which will include Chanukah treats, crafts and more. Free. 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. In front of H&M, Westfield Annapolis Mall, Annapolis.
National Menorah Lighting 2020
Dec. 10. Music by the U.S. Navy Band and Dreidelman and the Macabees, plus latkes and donuts, free menorah and dreidel kits, and family fun. Free, ticket required, limited seating. Gates open at 3 p.m., celebration at 4 p.m. The White House, Washington D.C.
Drive-Through Chanukah Experience
12–13. This epic drive-through audio-visual experience brings the story of Chanukah to life! Brought to you by JCrafts, local Chabads of MoCo, and the DC Party Box! This is going to be epic, safe, and fun for the whole family! Tickets need to be purchased online prior to the event at www.chanukahexperience.com.
Community Chanukah Concert with Rick Recht
Dec. 13, 2020. Light it up with this interactive musical gathering on the big screen, hosted by nationally renowned Jewish musician, Rick Recht. Hear inspiring stories that shed light on the miracles in our community, sing Jewish songs, and join in blessings led by members of the Baltimore Jewish community. Join us in person for the concert with the Gordon Outdoors and receive a participation kit that will include materials, activities, and ritual items relevant to the theme of the concert. Optional Virtual Admission. Refreshments and snacks will be available for purchase. $5-$15. 5:30 p.m. Gordon Center for the Performing Arts, Owings Mills.
Menorah Car Parade and Lighting At City Dock
Dec. 13. Celebrate the festival of lights with a Menorah Care Parade. Meet at Safeway (2635 Housley Rd, Annapolis) at 5 p.m.; car parade departs Safeway at 5:30 p.m. Each car Menorah will be attached with four strong magnets. Parade destination is City Dock with Giant Menorah lighting approximately 5:45 p.m. Free. Safeway and City Dock, Annapolis.
Hanukkah Celebration Paint & Sip
Dec. 16. Join via Zoom or in person at Chabad’s outdoor tent for Paint Night with step-by-step painting instruction and all supplies included. $28/person. 7 p.m. Chabad of Anne Arundel County, Annapolis.
