The Eastern Shore town of Centreville, Maryland (county seat of Queen Anne’s County) is celebrating the opening of the historic town wharf on Saturday, July 2, 2011. The last piece of town waterfront was saved from development and is now opening as a park.
The festivities will take place from 2-5 pm. A Taste of Centreville & Wharf Grand Opening With Ribbon Cutting will be held at 2:30PM, and the event also features a waterslide, kids fishing derby, live band, face painting, canoes and kayaks, food and drinks, and ice cream and snocones.
Guest booths include the Corsica River Conservancy, Gunston Summer Programs, Corsica River Yacht Club, QACHS Wharf History, and Scales and Tales.
There is no parking at the wharf; guests are asked to park behind nearby Mother of Sorrows Corbaley Hall on Glendale Avenue and take a free shuttle along the Millstream trail.
Also taking place is the first annual “TASTE OF CENTREVILLE” being held in conjunction with Centreville Wharf Day! Guests can experience the foods of our Centreville Restaurants: BRIQUE, DOC’S RIVERSIDE GRILLE, SUGAR MAGNOLIA & MORE paired with local wines of CASINELLI VINEYARDS and new “DOGFISH” selections made available from G&G DISTRIBUTORS.

Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door.
Fireworks will be held near Queen Anne’s County High School at 9pm- guests can park at QACHS, Centreville Middle School or Kennard Elementary School to view the fireworks display.
