The Spring/Summer Program Guide from Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks is now available, and the Anne Arundel County Commission on Disability Issues encourages youth of all abilities and their families to check out the sports-oriented experiences available.
Among the Adaptive Recreation offerings are Adaptive Swim programs for youth and adults at the warm water pool at the Ruth Eason Special School in Millersville. Adaptive Swim options are also available at the two community swim centers, the North Arundel Aquatic Center in Glen Burnie and the Arundel Olympic Swim Center in Annapolis, for those youth with some swim experience who are able to acclimate to a loud environment and cold water, and are toilet trained.
Integrated and Adaptive Sports such as Challenger Baseball, soccer, kickball, and lacrosse will be offered on Saturdays at the Freedom Field, Lake Waterford Park, Pasadena.
There also are social clubs offered on Friday nights at both the Ruth Eason Special School in Millersville and Central Special School in Edgewater for teens and young adults with disabilities.
Registration has begun; classes start March 6.
