Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum held its second annual Education Professionals Gratitude Day in June.
Educators and support staff from PK-12 schools were invited with their families to enjoy free admission to the museum, along with live music, hands-on activities and other perks.
Part of a Your Museum, Your Community initiative, the decision to host a day for educators is especially relevant to the museum’s work with schools.
“Throughout the year, our staff gets a chance to see the incredible work these special people are doing during field trips and classroom programming,” says CBMM’s Vice President of Education & Interpretation Jill Ferris, in a news release.
Last year, the museum hosted more than 4,500 students, teachers and chaperones for field trips from across the county, state and region.
In particular, the CBMM has a relationship with Talbot County Public School students in third, fifth and seventh grades via field trips, in-classroom programming and an after-school program for middle school students.
