Church Hill Theatre Kids Present Once Upon a Lily Pad

CHT_Kids_102Marking the 13th consecutive year for Church Hill Theatre’s Green Room Gang, the Theatre is proud to present three evenings of youth performances beginning on Thursday, 21 July and ending on Saturday, 23 July.  CHT’s summer youth drama camp, Green Room Gang, begun in 1999 and has prepared many of its participants for engaging high school, college, and community theatre experiences. GRG program coordinator Sylvia Maloney is most proud to note that many Green Room Gang alumni have gone on to pursue professional theatre careers.

This summer, Green Room Gang, Jr. will present the musical Once Upon a Lily Pad written by Mary Donnelly and George I. D. Strio.  It is the tale of Freddy, the Frog, and his search to find himself and his strength.  Along the way, Freddy comes across an array of pond and land creatures who teach him life lessons and help him to grow through story and song.  The production, which features students ages 6 to 9, is directed by Becca Van Aken with assistant director intern Emily Mathwich.  The participants in GRG, Jr. are Cameron Barnes, Audrey Betley, Madeline Biles, Sage Cookerly, Ben Davenport, Reed Ferguson, Karenna Foley, Olivia Giuliano, Mallory Helfenbein, Regan MacDonald, Mattie Nugent, Claire Parker, Ethan Quade, Emily Smith, Grace Sutherland, Riley Sutherland, Sophia Rose Veloz, Keelan Weddell and Natalie Whitehair.

Green Room Gang, Sr. features students from ages 10 to 16. They will be performing Music Theatre International’s Schoolhouse Rock, Jr., a musical based upon the Emmy Award winning TV series.  All of the English, History, Science, and Math lessons that were taught to the younger generation of two decades ago on Saturday mornings will come to life on the CHT stage through song and dance.  Brittney Lynn directs this production with assistant director intern Samantha Smith. The players in GRG, Sr. are Bryan Betley, Maya Betley, Seth Betley, Finneas Biles, Nina Black, Sam Clabaugh, Anthony DiMaggio, Abby Gilbert, Jesse Goodman, Jacqueline Gross, Gus Jones, Conor Maloney, Ryan McCarthy, Ian Mulligan, Daniel Ortiz, Georgia Rickloff, Jackie Sproson, Sarah Sweeney, and Brandon Walls.   Sylvia Maloney serves as advisor to both groups.

The performance dates are Thursday and Friday, July 21 and 22 at 7 pm and Saturday, July 23 at 2 pm.  Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under.  Please call Church Hill Theatre at 410-758-1331 or email office@churchhilltheatre.org for tickets and reservations.
