Symphony of Lights is back in Columbia and will open for the public Nov. 23 with a brand new ice rink opening Nov. 20.
After a year off, the 20-minute drive-through light display at Symphony Woods is back with a number of special events, new displays, a laser light show and even the ice skating rink. There are 20 new custom displays as well as a 3-D holiday video projected 50 feet high at Merriweather Post Pavilion.
The ice skating rink will be open through Jan. 8 on the corner of Little Patuxent and Broken Land parkways.
Special events throughout the season include:
- A Dazzle Dash family fun run and 5K with activities and entertainment Nov. 20, 4-7 p.m.
- Bike the Lights ride Nov. 29, 5-7 p.m.
- Twinkling Tots stroll through the lights Dec. 6, 5-8 p.m.
- Tail Lights dog walk through the lights Dec. 13, 5-8 p.m.
- Midnight at 7 New Year’s Eve event Dec. 31, 5-8 p.m.
Symphony of Lights also offers group walk-throughs on Mondays and Tuesdays, Nov. 28-Dec. 27 from 5 to 8:30 p.m., except on special event nights.
The drive-through is open Wednesdays through Sundays, Nov. 23-Jan. 1, 5:30-10 p.m. Tickets cost $20 per car Sunday-Friday and $25 on Saturday. Group walk-throughs cost $10 per person with group rates available and are free for children 4 and younger. Advance reservations are required.
The ice rink will be open 3-8 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday and noon-9 p.m. Friday-Sunday. Tickets are $9 for adults, $7 for children and $4 for skate rentals.
