Columbia’s Wilde Lake Middle to be replaced

hcpss logoIf all goes as planned, students at Wilde Lake Middle School in Columbia are going to get a brand new school building — but not for a few years.

The Howard County Board of Education has approved a recommendation by Superintendent Renee A. Foose to replace Wilde Lake Middle School with a new, high-performance, energy-efficient building. Pending approval by the Maryland Interagency Committee on School Construction, construction of the new school will begin in 2015 and take place alongside the existing school, located at 10481 Cross Fox Lane in Columbia. The existing facility will remain in use throughout the construction process, then be demolished upon completion of the new school estimated for August 2017, according to a press release from the Board of Education.
