Karate Kids
Two students at Bellicose Martial Arts in Crofton, 16-year-old Elian Gleeck and 13-year-old Genevieve Paul, will be inducted into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame in Tulsa, Oklahoma July 16-18. Both are residents of Anne Arundel County.
Top of the Class
Seven years after they were removed, Anne Arundel County Public Schools is re-instituting class rankings for the 2026-27 school year. Parents can request rankings after sophomore year.
Loving the Library
The Calvert County Public Library reported “unprecedented usage” of the library last year, with 1.09 million checkouts and 57,000 people at library events. This growth follows a $7.7 million investment in the library system from Calvert County.

Mall Madness
Real estate investment company Macerich now owns the Annapolis Mall following a $272 million sale. The new owners are working with PAWS at the Mall to find a new location at the mall for the SPCA adoption center following a termination notice it received in early May.
