Anne Arundel County Public Schools will use a $46,000 grant from the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation to increase the number of high-achieving students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds in its summer Global Studies program.
The program, which is run in conjunction with the Maryland State Department of Education, allows students to take advantage of rigorous, hands-on world language opportunities. The two-week summer program allows students to explore Arabic and Chinese.
Under Cooke Foundation’s Expanding Summer Academic Enrichment Programs Grant, AACPS will receive $15,443 a year for three years. The grant is one of eight awarded throughout the United States.
Information about the Global Studies program can be found on AACPS’ website, aacps.org.
