Dealing with Family Stress

Dealing with family stress over the holidays can be overwhelming. Moms take on a superhero sized list of tasks that they feel need to be done. There are events to attend, presents to buy and family members to please. The “Holiday Blues” are a real thing.

Dr. Shadonna Harris provides tips for surviving family stress over the holidays without losing your mind. She suggests breathing a little deeper, adjusting your expectations and be okay with the decisions you make.
Anxiety over violence, social challenges, and isolation are triggers that can necessitate dealing with family stress.

Here are a few things to be on the lookout for and if you notice these behaviors it’s time to get help.
  • Isolation – staying at home, not answering the phone or not posting on social media
  • Change in Personality – irritable, crying
  • Impulse control issues
