Commissioning Week at the U.S.Naval Academy is upon us, and there’s one event that Annapolis residents never want to miss: the Blue Angels’ flight demonstrations.
Witness the amazing aerial performance of the Blue Angels, the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squad, May 22-23. The Blue Angels’ flyovers can be seen:
- Tuesday – over the Severn River 11 a.m.-1 p.m. for circle and arrival, and 1:45 p.m.-4 p.m. for a flight rehearsal.
- Wednesday – over the Severn River at 1:45 p.m.-4 p.m. for a flight demonstration.
- Friday – around 10 a.m. above the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium for the time-honored graduation flyover.
The popularity of the Blue Angels and commissioning week events will likely lead to an increase in visitors in Annapolis, so make sure you plan around the crowds. Plan for traffic, especially on Friday, May 25, the day of graduation. The Naval Academy Bridge over the Severn River will be closed to all vehicles and pedestrians at times during the Blue Angels’ demonstrations.
Parking is available at the Navy-Marine Corps Stadium for $5. The daily shuttle will provide free transportation between the stadium and academy. You can also leave your car at the city’s parking garages, all within a short walk from the Naval Academy.
