DVD Review: Meek’s Cutoff (PG)

MeeksCutoffKernel Rating (out of 5): whole-popcorn-kernalwhole-popcorn-kernalwhole-popcorn-kernalwhole-popcorn-kernal

Length: 104 minutes       MPAA Rating: PG

Age Appropriate for: 14+. Though the film doesn’t have any sexual content, its plot is bleak and depressing, and won’t really resonate with viewers younger than teenagers. It also has cursing and some brief violence.

Americans search for new opportunities out west. Americans get lost. Americans realize the futility of believing in something better. So no, ‘Meek’s Cutoff’ is not a happy movie.

By Roxana Hadadi

United States during the 19th century was not a pleasant place, unless searching for water, fighting Native Americans and being aware of your own mortality are things that get you excited.
