Beer bread is one of the quickest, easiest recipes you can pull together for a nice, carby addition to any meal. Sure, you can buy one of those mixes for 5 bucks at some type of home party, but why spend all that cash when you’ve already got everything you need in your very own kitchen, and for less than $2! My family loves this bread with chili, or BBQ chicken, or even plain with a little dab of butter. Give it a try tonight!
Prep time: 5 minutes
Baking time: 20 minutes (muffins) or 50 minutes (loaf)
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 12 ounce can or bottle of beer (your choice, but I usually go fairly light in flavor, like an IPA)
- 4 tablespoons melted butter, divided use
Preheat your oven to 350-degrees. Spray a 9″ x 5″ loaf pan with non-stick spray.
Place the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar in a large bowl. Stir well to combine. Add beer and 3 tablespoons of melted butter (you will have 1 T. of butter left), then stir well to combine. Your batter will be very thick.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Place loaf pan in the oven and bake for 40 minutes. Remove pan from oven and pour remaining 1 T. melted butter over the top of the loaf, then return the pan to the oven for an additional 10 minutes.
To make Beer Muffins, spray a muffin pan with non-stick spray and divide the batter evenly between the 12 cups. Bake for 15 minutes, then remove pan from oven and pour remaining butter over muffins. Return to oven and cook for 5-10 minutes, or until cooked through.
