Enter the 'My Favorite Teacher Contest'

Teacher 1WMiddle and high school students can enter the “My Favorite Teacher Contest” and possibly win a $500 Barnes & Noble gift card and $5,000 for their teacher.

The contest gives students across the country the opportunity to tell their community how much their teachers are appreciated.

To enter, students write an essay, poem or thank you letter sharing how a teacher has influenced their life and why they appreciate and admire the teacher. The entry should be 500 words or less and on 8.5” by 11” white paper and submitted with the entry form. A parent or legal guardian must sign the form acknowledging they have read the contest rules.

Participating schools will collect the essays and turn them in to their local Barnes & Noble store representative. Students whose schools are not participating can submit their own contest entries to their local Barnes & Noble store in person or by mail. All submissions are due March 1.

Winners will be selected from each store. Five regional winners will also be selected, and finally a national “Barnes & Noble Teacher of the Year” will be named. Store winners will be notified on or about March 31, regional winners on or about April 17 and the national “Teacher of the Year” winner on our about May 2.

Students with winning entries will receive a certificate of recognition and will be honored at their local store during a ceremony for the winning teachers from their schools. The student who writes the winning entry for the the “Barnes & Noble Teacher of the Year” will also receive the $500 gift certificate along with a Nook device.

The winning teachers will be recognized at the ceremony and will also receive a special award acknowledging their achievement. The five regional winning teachers will each receive a $500 Barnes & Noble gift card and the winner of the national “Barnes & Noble Teacher of the Year” award will receive $5,000 and will be recognized at a special event. The winning teacher's school will also receive $5,000.
