Honor MLK through art at Annmarie Sculpture Garden

MLK-DaysWEBTake the kids to Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center in Solomons this weekend to help create a community work of art that will help celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Each year, Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center holds MLK Days and invites guests to help create a community art installation in honor of a dream. Reservations are not required. Kids are encouraged to just drop in and join the fun.

This year for MLK Days, the winter community art project is called Message In a Bottle. Through January, visitors will be able to reflect on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s I have a Dream speech, then write their own dream for the world and enclose it in a colorful bottle to be displayed along the trails of Annmarie Sculpture Garden.

The "MLK Days: Message in a Bottle" project will run from Jan. 18 through Jan. 20. The event will be held Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and Monday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This project will continue to run through March. Guests are encouraged to visit often throughout the winter to explore new themes and add writings to the Message in a Bottle project. Activities are free, but donations are accepted. For details visit www.annmariegarden.org or call 410-326-4640.
