Eight area students – four from Anne Arundel County, three from the Eastern Shore, and one from Prince George’s County – have earned the honor of being among the statewide winners in the 2011-12 State of Maryland International Reading Association Council (SoMIRAC) Elementary and Middle School Young Authors Contest for grades 2-8.
This year’s categoties were poetry and short stories. Winning authors and their teachers and families are invited to the Young Author’s Reception at the Baltimore Marriott-Hunt Valley Inn on March 28. Featured speakers this year will be celebrated authors Lulu Delacre, Leah Larson Caras, and Mary Downing Hahn.
