Empty Bowls event at South River High

Empty BowlsHave a nice fall family meal of soup and bread and help the hungry at the same time at an Empty Bowls event Nov. 14 at South River High School.

The Potters Guild of Annapolis is participating with pottery students from South River High School in the Empty Bowls project, which is raising funds for the Maryland Food Bank. The event runs 6-8:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchase in advance for a dinner of various soups, bread, and soft drinks for $15 for adults, $10 for students and $5 for children ages 2-10. The “all you can eat” soup will be provided by The Chop House, South County Cafe, Chevy’s, and Chick-fil-a. Panera Bread is donating bread, and beverages will also be provided. There will also be entertainment, pottery demonstrations, face painting, live music, and more. Tickets at the door are $20 for adults, $15 for students, and $7.50 for children.

At the end of the night, everyone (but those with child tickets) chooses a handmade ceramic bowl to take home with them as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the community.
