Enjoy the Maryland Zoo with a beer in hand and music in the background during the annual OktoBEARfest, Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, noon-4 p.m, at the zoo’s Waterfowl Lake Pavilion area. With more than 30 seasonal beers on tap to sample, live music with polka-type tunes and German food from local vendors, you can enjoy a taste of Oktoberfest in Germany right in Baltimore.
Try different beers from Boulevard, Brewers Art, DuClaw, Flying Dog, Harpoon, Hofbrau, Jailbreak, New Belgium, Sam Adams, Shiner, Bell’s, Terrapin and Yards. Doubleshot, a Pennsylvania Polka band, will perform two sets at Waterfowl Lake.
Tickets range from $25-65, depending on the type of ticket and how early it is purchased. Regular admission for 21 and older include unlimited sampling and a commemorative event glass. All tickets include zoo admission and access to food and artisan vendors.
Regular tickets are $40 if purchased by Aug. 31, $45 between Sept. 1 and Oct. 16, and $50 at the gate. Non-sampling tickets for those under 21 or non-drinking adults are $25.
New this year is the OktoBEARfest VIP ticket for $65, which includes a special mason jar glass for full-size sampling. VIPs must be 21 or older.
Zoo members save $10 off all tickets.
Free shuttle service is available from Baltimore’s Penn Station with shuttles running 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m., picking up on the Charles Street side of the station. Penn Station is accessible by Light Rail and the Purple line of Baltimore’s free bus, the Charm City Circulator.
