The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) invites children to enter its 2012 art contest with a chance to win a trip to New Orleans this year. Applications must be postmarked by July 16 for consideration.
This year’s theme is “A Healthy Start to Your Day, and the contest is open to boys and girls in three age groups:
Group winners and their parents/guardians will be invited to a presentation ceremony before several thousand pediatricians at the AAP National Conference & Exhibition in New Orleans on Saturday, October 20, 2012. Each first-place winner will receive a $500 cash prize and up to $1,000 for travel-related expenses. The three second-place winners will each receive $250. The six winners’ schools will be awarded matching cash amounts. Some artwork will be featured on the AAP website and in promotional materials.
“The quality of the artwork we receive each year is incredibly high,” says AAP President Robert Block, MD, FAAP. “In fact, the hardest part of the contest is choosing the winning entries. They are tremendous and that makes the judges’ jobs very, very difficult.”
