MPAA Rating: PG-13       Length: 123 minutes

Age Appropriate for: 14+. All mature themes, including a parent with Alzheimer’s disease, a miscarriage, and religious and social issues. OK for younger teens, but only if they’re ready emotionally.

If ‘A Separation’ doesn’t get nominated for, and win, the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film this year, I will cry. Almost as much as I did when watching this perfectly nuanced composite of complicated family life.

“A Separation” starts with an argument and ends with silence, probably the kind of domestic feuding and miscommunication that you, and everyone you know, has experienced.
